An Amarr torsion spring replacement in Las Vegas typically costs $180 – $340 installed, and we carry Amarr-compatible torsion springs on our trucks so most replacements are done same-day. We’re an independent service provider, not affiliated with Amarr, but we’ve built our parts inventory around what Las Vegas homeowners actually need: Amarr torsion springs that match the original door’s weight, lift, and cycle rating. Most owners discover the failure the hard way: a door that won’t lift in the morning, a loud bang from the garage, or the opener straining and grinding because the spring is no longer doing its share of the lifting.

Which Amarr Models This Applies To
Amarr builds doors in classes, not just model names. The torsion spring’s job is to counteract the door’s weight, so the spring we install has to match the door’s height, width, and weight – not just its series. Whether you have an Amarr Lincoln, Olympus, Classica, or Costa series, the spring we select is wound to the specific cycle count and wire gauge for that door’s specs.
Two compatibility gotchas we run into frequently in Las Vegas:
- Color-coded cones don’t always translate across series. Amarr uses red, blue, silver, and gold winding cones across different lines. A red cone on a Lincoln 1000 isn’t necessarily the same spring as a red cone on a Classica 3000. We measure the door’s weight and spring’s wire diameter rather than trusting the cone color alone.
- Amarr doors built after 2010 often use a 1-inch shaft instead of the older 1-1/4-inch shaft. That changes which torsion hardware fits. We carry springs for both shaft sizes.
OEM parts versus quality aftermarket: Amarr-branded springs are solid, but the springs themselves are coiled steel – the springs made by the same U.S. manufacturers who wind for Amarr’s spec work just as well and keep the cost honest. What matters is cycle rating. We’ll tell you whether your door was spec’d with 10,000-cycle springs or the builder-grade standard; in Las Vegas, the difference matters.

Signs Your Amarr Torsion Spring Replacement Is Failing
- The classic bang. A torsion spring under 150+ pounds of tension snapping inside the tube sounds like a dropped toolbox. After the bang, the door won’t lift – a sure sign it’s the spring, not the opener.
- A visible split in the coil. If you can see a gap or crack anywhere along the spring’s length above your closed door, you’re running on borrowed time. Don’t wait.
- The door feels heavy when the opener is released. Pull the release cord. If the door doesn’t lift easily with two hands, the spring’s tension has weakened – it’s worn, not just tired.
- The opener is visibly struggling. When the motor grinds, whines, or starts and stops in jerks on a door that used to move smoothly, the spring is no longer doing its half of the work. The opener is filling in – and burning itself out.
- One side lifts faster than the other. A broken or fatigued spring lets one side of the door bind and drag against the track, leaving the other side pulling ahead. That’s a cable-drum imbalance, and it’s dangerous to ignore.

AfterReplacement Cost & What’s Included
Here’s what you can expect for Amarr torsion spring replacement in Las Vegas:
| Service | Typical Installed Price |
|---|---|
| Single torsion spring replacement (most 7 – 8 ft doors) | $180 – $280 |
| Dual torsion spring replacement (16 ft doors, high-cycle Amarr series) | $280 – $340 |
| Add center bearing or end-bearing plate replacement | Included with most spring swaps; varies by access |
That price includes the spring, the installation labor, the balancing check on both sides of the door, and a written guarantee. The biggest variable is cycle rating – we always upgrade to high-cycle springs on Amarr doors because Las Vegas’s dry summer heat accelerates metal fatigue, and a basic 10,000-cycle spring will not last as long here as it would in a coastal city. The second variable is whether your door’s brackets or bearings show wear once we’re in there. If so, we’ll quote that separately, in writing, before touching a bolt. The price we quote in the driveway is the price on the invoice.
DIY or Call Us?
Most of the diagnostics you can do yourself: look for the visible split in the coil, pull the release cord and check how heavy the door feels, watch for one side lagging. That’s safe and useful.
What is not safe is touching the spring itself. A torsion spring holds 150 to 250 pounds of rotational tension even when the door is closed. The winding bars, the set screws, the bearing plates – if any of these are handled wrong, the spring releases that tension instantly. That is how hands get broken and how people end up in urgent care. This is the one repair where we’d tell even a competent DIYer to step back. We carry the winding bars, the springs, and the experience to do it safely. Call (725) 210-0201 and we’ll come out.
FAQs
Amarr torsion springs are rated for 10,000 to 25,000 cycles depending on the model and what was originally installed; in Las Vegas’s dry heat, most builder-grade springs last 6 to 9 years before losing tension or snapping. A cycle is one full open-and-close, so a door used four times a day will eat through 10,000 cycles in about seven years. Call (725) 210-0201 if yours has been in service since before 2019 – we’ll tell you straight if it’s time.
No – a torsion spring with a split or fracture cannot be welded, spliced, or re-tensioned safely. The metal has already fatigued; any repair attempt just begs for the spring to snap again. Replacement is the only fix, and in most cases you should replace both springs at once so the door doesn’t ride lopsided and wear the cables and drums unevenly. Call (725) 210-0201 and we’ll assess the pair of them.
Most Amarr torsion spring replacements take about 45 minutes to an hour, including winding the new spring, setting the drum balance, testing the door by hand, and cleaning the job site. If we also have to replace the center bearing or one of the end plates, figure another 20 minutes, and we’ll tell you that up front. Call (725) 210-0201 to get on the schedule.
Yes – our trucks in Las Vegas carry a full range of Amarr-compatible torsion springs in the common wire gauges and lengths for 7-foot and 8-foot residential doors, along with LiftMaster, Chamberlain, and Genie parts for opener work. For a 16-foot door or a heavy custom Amarr, we may need to source from our local warehouse, which is a same-day trip in Las Vegas. Call (725) 210-0201 and Marcus will tell you exactly what’s on the truck.
