Clopay Roller Replacement: The Las Vegas Owner’s Guide

Clopay roller replacement in Las Vegas typically costs $110 – $220 installed, parts and labor included, and most swaps are done in under an hour. We stock Clopay-compatible rollers on our trucks, so the fix is usually a same-day job. You’ll likely notice the problem before you see it: a grinding or scraping sound when the door moves, a door that shudders on the way up, or one side that hangs slightly lower than the other. Those are rollers telling you they’ve had enough.

Rollers are the small wheels mounted on each side of the door that ride inside the vertical and horizontal tracks. When they wear out, the door doesn’t glide so much as fight its way along. In Las Vegas, that wear happens faster than most homeowners expect. We’ll get into why below.

Which Clopay Models This Applies To

Most Clopay residential doors use one of two roller sizes: 2-inch rollers on standard 15-inch radius track, and 3-inch rollers on doors with 12-inch radius track or heavier sections. That includes the Classic, Gallery, Coachman, and Reserve collection lines, along with Clopay’s EasyCare and CleanDesign series doors. If you can find the model label on the inside edge of the top section, that helps us match the exact roller spec before we even arrive.

Clopay has shifted roller suppliers over the years, so two doors from the same collection but different build years may take slightly different nylon bearing profiles. That’s the compatibility gotcha we see most often. Older Clopay doors (roughly pre-2010) sometimes used steel rollers with exposed ball bearings, while newer production runs use nylon-encased rollers that run quieter and last longer in dry climates. If your door predates that shift, we can discuss whether to phase in nylon rollers a pair at a time or swap all of them at once.

On OEM versus aftermarket: Clopay-branded rollers are fine, but the truth is Clopay doesn’t manufacture their own roller bearings. They source them. Quality aftermarket rollers from the same bearing suppliers perform identically and cost less. We carry both and will show you the difference before we install anything. One note for clarity: Bramwell Garage Doors Las Vegas is an independent service provider; we’re not affiliated with Clopay or any other manufacturer. We service them all, including LiftMaster, Chamberlain, and Genie openers that often get serviced at the same visit.

Signs Your Clopay Roller Replacement Is Failing

  • Grinding or scraping during operation. The roller bearing has lost its lubrication or the nylon shell has cracked, and metal is now riding on metal. This is the most common first symptom and usually means the roller is already beyond saving.
  • Door shudders or vibrates mid-travel. A flat-spotted roller doesn’t roll smoothly; it bumps along the track. Each bump transfers through the panels and into the opener rail.
  • One side of the door sits visibly lower than the other when closed. A collapsed roller on one side drops the door a fraction of an inch. Left long enough, that misalignment accelerates wear on the cables and hinges.
  • The door jerks or catches at the same spot every time. A worn roller can’t follow the curve of the track radius cleanly. The door pauses, then lurches forward when the opener pushes past the resistance.
  • Loud squeaking that gets worse in summer. Las Vegas heat bakes the grease out of roller bearings faster than almost anywhere in the country. A roller that’s quiet in January can be screaming by July.

Replacement Cost & What’s Included

Full roller replacement on a Clopay door in Las Vegas runs $110 – $220 installed. That covers all rollers on the door, not just the bad one. We stopped pricing per-roller years ago because the honest thing is to replace the set: if one roller has failed, the rest are typically months behind it.

What drives the range is roller type and door weight. Standard nylon rollers on a single-car door land at the lower end. Heavy double-car doors or doors running on 3-inch rollers with premium sealed bearings land at the higher end. The price includes parts, labor, track inspection, and a light lubrication of the hinges and springs while we’re in there.

You’ll get the price in writing before any work starts. The number we quote is the number on the invoice. Every roller replacement carries the 365-Day Done Right Promise: if the repair fails within a year, we come back and fix it at no charge. That commitment is in writing on every job.

DIY or Call Us?

Replacing a roller on the bottom bracket involves working near the cable and the bottom fixture, both of which are under tension from the door’s spring system. On torsion spring doors, that tension is substantial. We don’t recommend pulling the bottom roller yourself unless you know how to safely release the tension and re-secure it. The top and middle rollers are less risky if you angle the door correctly, but the bottom one is where the cable lives, and if that cable lets go, you’ll learn why we say call a professional.

What you can safely do is the diagnosis. Run the door and listen for where the sound is coming from. Look at the rollers with the door down: any visible flat spots, cracked nylon, or wobble when you spin them by hand means that roller is done. Then call us at (725) 210-0201. Tell me what it’s doing, and I’ll tell you exactly what it needs, no guesswork, no surprises on the bill.
